Home-Start South Wiltshire is a local community network of trained volunteers who support families with young children through challenging times. We are a small, local charity and are proud to have helped 572 of the most vulnerable, isolated families in South Wiltshire over the last 20 years– including those living in extreme poverty, dealing with mental ill-health, living with disability or experiencing domestic violence.
Every day, through small acts of kindness and understanding, our volunteers support struggling parents to help them cope with stresses and strains of life, ensuring they have the skills, confidence and strength they need to nurture their children. We are the only charity in South Wiltshire that visits families in their own homes and offers a free, confidential service by volunteers directly to the heart of the family. We visit on a regular basis, so we are able to build up a strong bond of trust with the families that we support, and we work with each family for as long as it takes.
All our families have at least one child under the age of five and whether parents need practical support, expert advice on developmental challenges or simply a friend to talk to, our volunteers make the world of difference.
