We provide in the home and group support for families with at least one child under five, who are experiencing tough times. Our friendly home visiting volunteers visit families weekly to help them cope with the challenges they are facing, including:
- Feelings of isolation or loneliness
- Depression, anxiety, poor mental health
- Feeling overwhelmed with the demands of parenting
- Poor physical health and/or disability
- Financial struggles
- Bereavement
- Family breakdown
- Twins, triplets, or more
Often, families find themselves facing situations which may seem overwhelming.
Our trained volunteers are carefully matched to families – offering time, empathy, and a listening ear to parents when they need it most. We also offer group support.
Our Family Support Organisers are responsible for the day-to-day recruitment, training and support of volunteers as well as liaising with referrers and families.
We also run Parent and Child group sessions. Visit our website for more information on where and when.
Areas we cover
Home-Start North Wiltshire helps families in the community areas of Devizes, Melksham, Marlborough, Pewsey, Calne, Chippenham, Tidworth, and their surrounding villages. Also now some parts of Swindon.
Volunteers
We run training courses during the year to train incoming volunteers and we are always looking for those with parenting or childcare skills to join our team. Please get in touch if you can spare half a day a week.
